Events in Bloomington ahead of and during the total solar eclipse

The city of Bloomington has several events planned for the days leading up to the total solar eclipse.

City buildings will be closed, and Indiana University and the Monroe County Community School Corporation have canceled classes for April 8.

  • Friday, April 5 – “Total Eclipse of the Brain” Solar Eclipse-Themed Trivia with Skip Daley
  • Friday, April 5 from 7-9 p.m. at the Pavilion at Switchyard Park
  • $30 per team of up to six people. Register online by April 3. (165001-G). Pre-registration is required!
  • The Cabin Restaurant and Lounge will be on site with food, beer, wine, and soda available for purchase.
  • An entertaining evening filled with solar eclipse-themed trivia that promises to engage your intellect!
  • Saturday, April 6 – Eclipse in the Park: A Solar Celebration in Switchyard Park
  • 6 p.m. Karaoke with Brad Lake
  • 6 p.m. Crafts, games, and education activities
  • 6-10 p.m. Food trucks and beer garden, featuring Upland Brewery
  • 8:45 p.m. Movie in the Park: Hidden Figures (2016, Rated PG)
    • The story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.
    • Outside on the main stage. Bring your own seating.
  • Sunday, April 7 – There Goes the Sun in Switchyard Park 
  • 2 p.m. Crafts, games and educational activities
  • 3 p.m. Bloomington Symphony Orchestra outside on the main stage. Bring your own seating.
  • Sunday, April 7 – Lunar Links Glow-in-the-Dark Putt Putt at Cascades Golf Course
  • Sunday, April 7 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Cascades Golf Course
  • $10 per person
  • Registration not required.
  • Monday, April 8 – Celestial Spectacle Solar Eclipse Viewing Event
  • 12 p.m. Food trucks and beer garden, featuring Upland Brewery, Bloomington Brewing Company and Cardinal Spirits
  • 12 p.m. Live music
  • 12 p.m. Crafts, games and educational activities
  • 2 p.m. Live music by Comfortably Phree (covering “Dark Side of the Moon”)
  • 3 p.m. Solar Eclipse viewing
  • 3:30 p.m. Live music by Comfortably Phree
