IU swept Cal Poly and Eastern Illinois in consecutive nights to advance their record to 5-2. Indiana Volleyball returned to Bloomington after a 5 game stretch on the road to face Cal Poly. The Hoosier offense made it a crowd pleaser right out of the gate, having a ridiculous hitting percentage of .700 in the first set. Things cooled down a little bit after, but IU got the sweep (25-11, 25-16, 28-26) over the Mustangs.
Sophomore Jaidyn Jager led the way on offense with 14 of Indiana’s 41 kills. Kiki Granberry added six kills and seven blocks, one of her best performances as a Hoosier. 2025 All-Big Ten setter Teodora Kritchkovic dished out 34 assists, providing all five attackers with at least 5 kills.
It’s the second win of the young season over a team that made the NCAA quarterfinals last year, the first being over defending champion Texas A&M. Coach Steve Aird’s plan of starting the season against quality, experienced opponents seems to be working out.
The Hoosiers heated up in Wilkinson Hall on Friday against the Eastern Illinois Panthers. The clean sweep brings the Hoosiers to a 5-2 record on the season. They looked great on offense and defense, with Jager having 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .429.
For the second straight night, the Hoosiers scored in multiple ways, with 63 of their 75 points coming from the team itself. On top of that, six different players on Indiana had at least one ace, with Jager and fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry each tallying two.
Indiana’s .391 team hitting percentage was the highest in a single match since they beat Rutgers in November of last season, when they hit .455. Coach Aird wasn’t as pleased, though, saying that the offense needs to be cleaned up before heading back out on the road.
The Hoosiers topped the Indiana Invitational with two wins, and they don't plan on slowing down. They will head to Conway, South Carolina, next Friday to face Coastal Carolina.
