IU Women’s Tennis loses to Penn State on Sunday

Indiana Women’s Tennis had two Big Ten matches this weekend. The Hoosiers have a 6-12 record in the season after a loss against Ohio State on Saturday, March 23. The second match of the weekend started at 11 am on Sunday, March 24 with doubles. 

During doubles partners Freshman Li Hsin Lin and Graduate Student Saby Nihalani won their match 6-3. Making it the only win of the doubles portion, ending with the Hoosiers down 1-2.

As singles began multiple courts went on ready to play a 7th set in the first set. Court two with Freshman Elisabeth Dunac won her first set against Penn State through a tie-breaker. The tie breaker Dunac won 7-3. She then went to play a close second set where she had a narrow lead for most of the set. Ultimately, Dunac won the set 6-4 and won her match 2-0. 

Teammates Freshman Li Hsin Lin and Graduate Student Lene Mari Hovda both went unfinished with their matches for doubles. 

As the match closed out the Hoosiers lost to Penn State 4-1. Making their Big Ten record on the season so far 0-5, and their overall record 7-12. The IU Women’s Tennis Team will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan next weekend to face off against both Michigan and Michigan State.
