BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) – A new committee has been appointed to relaunch the search for a new dean of The Media School, IU Bloomington Provost and Executive Vice President Rahul Shrivastav announced last week. 

Walter Gantz has served as interim dean since July 2021, after founding dean James Shanahan returned to the faculty after six years. 

Shanahan was dean of the school during the merging of three academic programs focused on journalism, communication, and film studies. 

The new dean will focus on school recruitment, facilities and partnerships, and curriculum. 

The Media School was formed back in 2014 and has roughly two thousand students, and seventy full time faculty.
