Bloomington man arrested and charged with kidnapping wife

BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington man faces charges of kidnapping, domestic battery, and intimidation after police say he allegedly kidnapped his wife who later jumped out of a moving vehicle.

Wade Jackson, 61, is accused of taking his wife from an apartment and beating her after she told him she wanted a divorce.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Bloomington Police learned about the kidnapping on October 18 when officers spoke to a female patient at a Bloomington hospital. The woman had told police she was in a moving vehicle with her husband and had jumped out on W. Tapp Rd because he was hitting her.

Court documents show the incident stemmed from the day before after the victim told Jackson that she wanted a divorce. The woman later left their shared apartment and went to stay at a different apartment.

Police say Jackson later arrived at that apartment and asked if the woman was there. Documents show Jackson then grabbed the victim and took her to his car, allegedly telling her “I outta kill you,” and “I‘m done with it,” and told her to “not make a scene.”

The victim said she kept quiet and was unable to escape, as Jackson had ahold of her hair.

Documents allege Jackson drove off and was steering the car with his left hand and continued striking the woman with his right hand.

The victim told police she jumped from the vehicle because she feared for her life, adding that she knew Jackson had a firearm but was unsure if he had it with him.

Multiple witnesses called 911 reporting the woman jumping from the moving car.

Police were unable to locate Jackson and filed a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody on Sunday.
