Indiana Snaps their Losing Streak with a Tie at USC

Wsoc vs USC

IU entered the second game of their West Coast road trip still in dire need of ending their losing streak. A streak that they have seen rise to six games after a big loss at UCLA on Thursday night. The Hoosiers were in a good situation to do it as they met a struggling USC team who was still in search of their first conference win leading into Sunday.

Despite the recent struggles for the Trojans, they came out firing as they found the back of the net within the very first minute of the match. It was Rhea Moore’s first goal of the season to break the seal in Los Angeles as she found the bottom right corner of the net off Jaiden Rodriguez’s assist.

After 36 scoreless minutes, it was USC to break through once again as Jordan Hill notched her second goal of the season. The goal on Rhiannon Mahon’s assist sent the Trojans comfortably into halftime, as they held the Hoosiers to just 2 shots on goal in the first frame.

The Hoosiers finally found success out of the break as Kennedy Neighbors scored her third goal of the year in the 48th minute. Piper Coffield found her very first assist of her senior season on a goal that flipped the narrative for the fall as Indiana finally found success coming out of the halftime break.

Kennedy Neighbors got her name back on the stat sheet as she assisted on the game-tying goal to Amaya Falzerano in the 70th minute. Falzerano’s first would be the last piece of damage for either team, with a last-second save by Josie Biehl finalizing the draw in California.

Even though they generated a few more offensive opportunities than the Trojans, the Hoosiers are more than happy to head home from a two-game set in the Golden State with a well-earned point on a second-half comeback. Indiana will be welcomed home to a tough task under the bright lights of Bill Armstrong Stadium on Friday night as they will host a very solid Michigan State team.
