Father arrested for beating and pointing gun at stepdaughter

OWENSVILLE, Ind. — A southern Indiana man was arrested for allegedly beating his own eight-year-old stepdaughter with a gun before pointing it at her.

Austin McGill, 24, is charged with pointing a firearm at another person, neglect of a dependent and domestic battery, all level 6 felonies.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident happened when McGill was watching three of his kids at their home on Sept. 8. ISP said the girl's mother was not home at the time.

McGill turned himself into police the following day.
