Body of Evansville man recovered from Patoka Lake

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. — On July 14th, Indiana Conservation officers were notified at 1:43 p.m. of a person not resurfacing while swimming near the area of the overlook dam, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Officials arrived at the scene and recovered the body at 4:13 p.m.

The swimmer has been identified as Edgar Osbaldo Garcia Herrera, 19, of Evansville Indiana.

Patoka lake is located in southern Indiana, 70 miles south of Bloomington.

This is the second drowning Patoka Lake has seen this summer.

Indiana Conservation Officers remind Hoosiers to “always wear your life jacket when on or around the water.”
