Bloomington man appeals Jan. 6 riot conviction and prison sentence

WASHINGTON D.C. — The Bloomington man convicted and sentenced to nine months in federal prison for his participation in the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol has filed an appeal in the case.

31-year-old Antony Vo filed the appeal April 27 in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals just weeks after his sentencing earlier this month.

A jury convicted Vo in September for:

  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building
  • Violent entry and disorderly conduct in a capitol building
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

According to court documents, Vo will be on supervised probation for a year after his release and will be required to pay a $1,000 fine.
