IUPD: All clear after suspicious item prompts IU Notify alert

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) — There is no threat to campus after someone reported a suspicious item near 4th Street and Indiana Avenue, prompting an IU Notify alert Thursday.

IU Police and Public Safety Public Information Officer Hannah Skibba said that Bloomington Police responded to the area and determined the item was not dangerous or posed a threat.

Skibba also said that BPD is familiar with the person who called to report the item and has called 911 with similar concerns in the past.

The first IU Notify alert was pushed to students at 8:42 a.m., telling everyone to avoid the area.

The all clear was sent at 8:53 a.m., saying everyone is safe to resume normal activities.
