RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. (IUSTV News) — A missing person investigation is underway at Versailles Lake within Versailles State Park, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Carson Hughes, 18, of Osgood has not been seen since before 1:30 p.m. Friday.

DNR officials say Hughes' car was located unlocked with the keys still within the vehicle near the boat ramp. His kayak was also found on the water nearby. Crews conducted a search both on land and in the water near where his vehicle was located utilizing thermal and side-scan sonar technologies.

The search has been suspended for the night due to darkness and unsafe search conditions, but will resume in the morning, DNR officials said.

If anyone has information on Hughes’ whereabouts, they are urged to call the Indiana DNR Dispatch Center at 812-837-9536.
