How much revenue do Indiana University and Bloomington make in parking tickets?

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — In 2022, Bloomington reported earning nearly 700-thousand dollars from parking citations.  Indiana University earns over 800-thousand dollars yearly from parking citations.

Expensive parking citations on and off campus continue to be a major issue for IU students.

The price for an IU parking citation starts at fifty dollars for stadium and residence hall violations. For parking violations in lots designated for faculty and staff, the punishment can be as severe as towing.

City of Bloomington parking tickets range in price but are rigorously enforced.

“Being like way too strict with things to the fact that where you're towing cars that has been parked for maybe like thirty minutes over the time that they paid for and I think that that is just a little absurd in my opinion,” said IU sophomore Madi Durst.
