LaPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (IUSTV News) - Two children were pulled from the Tippecanoe River Saturday morning in northern Indiana, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

DNR officials say first responders were dispatched to the area after bystanders reported two children struggling in the river behind a home.

When first responders arrived in the area, they located a 1-year-old and 5-year-old that were pulled from the river by family members. DNR officials say that the 1-year-old was transported to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.

The Indiana Department of Child Services also responded to the area to assist investigators. The DNR says that the investigation is ongoing.
