BLOOMINGTON — A 16-year-old Bloomington High School South student is facing charges of attempted robbery and intimidation with a deadly weapon after police say the teen pointed a knife at another student.
It happened as the two students were walking to the South Walnut Street McDonalds after school. The victim told police after ordering his food, the other boy pulled the six-inch knife and asked for $5.
The victim left and called his parents, who reported it to police. After checking surveillance video, police were able to find the teen and found the knife seen in the video in the boy’s backpack.
The 16-year-old, who is being unnamed because he is a minor, was taken to a juvenile detention center on charges that would felonies had the boy been tried as an adult.
