ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (IUSTV News) – The Indiana State Police is overseeing a crash investigation that involved an Elkhart County sheriff’s deputy.
ISP says that around 1 a.m. Sunday, Deputy Richard Jasinski was driving south on State Road 15 near County Road 146 in his patrol car, when a car driven by an 18-year-old male reportedly crossed the centerline and crashed into Jasinski’s car head-on.
Jasinski was treated at the hospital and released. The 18-year-old was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
State Police believe alcohol is a factor in the crash, but toxicology results from the 18-year-old driver are still pending.
The Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case once state police complete their investigation.
