Bloomington man arrested after 100+ mph chase

BEDFORD, Ind. — Indiana State Police arrested a Bloomington man Thursday after a chase reportedly reached speeds over 100 miles per hour across two counties.

Police were able to catch up to and arrest David Cobb, 39, in Bedford.

According to ISP, the chase began when a trooper attempted to pull over Cobb on State Road 37 near Harrodsburg for speeding. When the trooper got behind Cobb, he reportedly started going faster, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

ISP said the chase continued south into Lawrence County, where sheriff deputies joined the chase to help troopers.

A deputy deployed stop sticks when Cobb approached the Oolitic intersection but he reportedly swerved to avoid running over the spike strips.

According to ISP, the chase continued for a short time into Bedford city limits before Cobb voluntarily stopped on Fifth Street and was taken into custody.

Troopers reported Cobb appeared drunk and had a prior suspended license. ISP conducted field sobriety exercises and a breathalyzer test, after which Cobb was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and charged with:
