Monroe County under freeze warning until Thursday morning

BLOOMINGTON — Monroe County is under a freeze warning from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Overnight temperatures are expected to dip below freezing, with many area lows reaching 29 degrees.

The frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation or possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, according to the National Weather Service.

The typical start date for the first freeze in Bloomington is October 16, with the earliest recorded freeze having been on September 13, 1899, and the latest recorded freeze being November 6, 2016, according to data from the National Weather Service.
