Coroner investigating car in pond as a suicide

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Monroe County Coroner has identified the person found dead in the driver seat of a car that went into a pond Sunday.

Ayana Addisu, 17, was a student at Bloomington High School North and was the only person inside the car, the coroner said Thursday.

Her cause of death is still pending autopsy results, but coroner said Addisu's death is being investigated as a suicide.

The vehicle was found partially submerged in a pond near North Stonelake Drive, just off the State Road 45/46 Bypass.

Divers with the Monroe County Dive Team found the person already dead in the driver’s seat.
