5 year old dead after apparent drowning Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent drowning that happened Saturday night on the southwest side of Bloomington.

According to a release, deputies responded to the Woodland Springs pool around 7:15 p.m. for a 5-year-old child that was reported unresponsive in the pool.

When first responders arrived, they performed CPR and took the child to IU Health Bloomington Hospital but the child later died.

The incident remains under investigation, but MCSO said no crime is suspected.
