Mitchell man killed in single-vehicle crash in Lawrence County

car-crash

MITCHELL, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A Mitchell man was killed after losing control of his vehicle, according to a Facebook post from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.

Police say 24-year-old George Troxel was traveling southbound on Meridian Road just before 5 p.m. on July 28, and was approaching a curve south of Yockey Road. They believe an excessive amount of speed caused Troxel to lose control of his Jeep Grand Cherokee and traveled off the right side of the road.

Investigators say the Jeep re-entered the road and slid across Meridian, hitting a group of rocks, flipping the jeep on its passenger side. The roof of the vehicle impacted a tree and Troxel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say, per state law, a toxicology test was taken and the results have yet to be complete.
