3 arrested for prostitution, drug charges after investigation in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. (IUSTV News) – The Columbus Police Department announced the arrests of three people they say were involved in prostitution and narcotic activity.

An investigation was opened by the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) after tips about a prostitution advertisement posted on an escort website.

The investigation led police to 32-year-old Mariel V. Hautman and 48-year-old Corey S. Singer, both of Columbus. Police determined that the two were involved in prostitution and that Singer failed to register as a sex offender.

JNET obtained a search warrant for Hautman and Singer’s home on Streamside Drive. Police say while the warrant was executed, they also arrested Chad Singer, of Davenport, Iowa.

The search warrant uncovered several bags of methamphetamine weighing out to 45 grams, as well as packaging materials, a digital scale, and other paraphernalia.
