Bloomington, Ind.- On Saturday, November 5th, WIUX Pure Student Radio will celebrate the sixth annual College Radio Day with a free concert hosted at the station house (715/717 E 8th Street). The show will take place from 2-5 PM, and feature sets from local acts Stacks // Culture, Planet Natives, and Hales Corner. College Radio Day is celebrated internationally to help gain recognition for college radio stations and their impact on independent, local, and underrepresented music.
Founded in December 2010 by Dr. Rob Quicke of William Paterson University and Peter Kreten of Saint Xavier University, College Radio Day looks to bring
together the large scope of college radio listeners and “celebrate the important contribution of college radio by uniting for this one day.” Since 2012, the event has been recognized as World College Radio Day, and is celebrated by more than 30 countries around the world. In past years, live sessions from WIUX have been
featured on the official College Radio Day album.
